This exciting opportunity is shared between the Town of Halton Hills (3 days) and the Halton Hills Public Library (2 days).
Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Communications and Chief Librarian respectively, primary responsibilities include general communications support, graphic design services and production for a variety of platforms (print and digital), coordination of the consolidated corporate print advertising program, content development, event management and support for the online engagement platform.
Perform a range of graphic design functions, including design, layout, photography and pre-press 
Maintain design/data elements on digital platforms
Execute print projects with vendors from quote to production
Uphold the brand integrity and compliance by working with staff to ensure proper application; updates and creates new materials/templates 
Coordinate the corporate print advertising program (staff ad solicitation, design, proof, submission and VISA reconciliation with newspaper) 
Prepare content for digital platforms (website and online engagement site) including sourcing pictures, preparing graphics and writing  Provide support through tracking of performance measures, metrics and results
Assist as requested, in the development and execution of communications and/or public engagement strategies including research, planning, writing and event management
Provide miscellaneous support as required (e.g. data collation, media lists)
Support communications initiatives as assigned
Provide back up to communications staff as required
Other duties as assigned
Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant discipline
Graphic design training or certification
3 to 5 years of relevant communications experience, with public sector experience considered an asset
Experience in internal and external communications including principles and practices
Strong proficiency in graphic design, print production and demonstrated success in delivering communications materials Experience working with external vendors and contracted services  Knowledge and understanding of brand integration
Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders Strong political acumen
Proven social media skills, with experience working on digital platforms preferred
Experience in research, data collection and collation
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications with a high attention to detail
Strong project management skills including the ability to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines
Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business purposes
Compensation: The range for this contract position (based on 35 hours per week) is $34.11 - $40.61 per hour. This position may require some flexibility in work schedule. This position will work from Town Hall 3 days a week and the Halton Hills Public Library 2 days a week. This position may also include daily travel between locations within the Town of Halton Hills. 
Note: this contract runs until December 2018 with an anticipated extension to December 2019 pending Town Council approval.
