Job Description

BACKGROUND
The Knowledge Translation & Implementation (KT&I) team helps OMA members navigate the health care system. We develop tools and resources to explain key topics and changes within the system (including clinical issues, legislation changes and health system transformation) to doctors and help them apply that information to their practice. 
 
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Lead is responsible for writing and creating effective communication and education tools for doctors.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Senior Lead will create evidence-based resources and tools to support doctors by:
  • Understanding the information and support needs of members, by working with doctors and OMA staff
  • Gathering evidence by working with external subject matter experts and the OMA’s Research team to do environmental scans and conduct literature searches
  • Developing key messages and recommending the best formats for tools given the audience and content, as part of the developing the overall knowledge translation plan together with the Manager.
  • Writing content that addresses the information needs of members and is appropriate for the selected format(s)
  • Working with internal teams and external vendors (including graphic designers, web developers, etc.) to build resources and tools
  • Collaborating with the Communications team to disseminate resources and tools to members
  • Evaluating resources and collecting feedback to improve KT&I products and delivery processes
 
To support this work, the Senior Lead will also need to:
  • Effectively project manage the development of multiple tools for different topics concurrently
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, external organizations and doctors
  • Maintain ongoing awareness of the health system and follow emerging issues
  • Identify opportunities for program improvement across the knowledge translation cycle

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Communications, Health Administration, or equivalent.
  • Training in knowledge translation and/or adult education is a plus.  
    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • 4-8 years experience in communications and health care; experience in medical education is a plus
  • Must have experience conceptualizing and writing a variety of communication or education materials, preferably for a physician audience
  • Strong strategic content development, project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario health care system is ideal.
  • Experience in knowledge translation or adult education is an asset.
