Reporting to the City Manager, and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Director, Communications and Intergovernmental Relations coaches a team of approximately 30 professionals in maintaining and enhancing the reputation of the organization through effective communication strategies and exceptional government relations. The Director oversees issues management, crisis communications, internal and external communications, media relations, as well as government and stakeholder relations, while working cooperatively with all levels of government, and public sector partners. The City looks to the Director as the most senior communications expert to identify and manage potential risks, while acting as both chief spokesperson for the City and chief communications advisor to City Council.
