"Congratulations to this year’s APR cohort on this milestone achievement in their public relations careers. By earning the APR designation, they’ve proven themselves to be accomplished communicators committed to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics," said Philip Mulder APR, FEC (Hon.), FGC (Hon), FCPRS, presiding officer, CPRS National Council on Accreditation. "To successfully complete the yearlong accreditation process, this year’s candidates not only demonstrated their strategic acumen, but also a sound understanding of the effective application of communications principles and theory in the practice of public relations.”

This year, the Canadian Public Relations Society is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the APR designation, first granted in 1969 as a measurement of competence and personal achievement in the field of public relations. Today, it is an internationally recognized symbol of the highest global standard of excellence in the industry. To achieve accredited status, candidates undergo rigorous evaluation of the skills, experience and strategic thinking necessary to practice public relations at the highest level. They must also demonstrate thorough understanding of the ethical practice of public relations and adhere to the CPRS Code of Professional Standards.

This year's APR cohort will be honoured by their peers on the first day of Evolving Expectations 2019, the CPRS National Conference in Edmonton, Alta., June 2-4, 2019.
