Patricia Parsons APR, FCPRS

Patricia Parsons is currently Professor of Communication Studies and a past chairman of the Bachelor of Public Relations degree program at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS where she has taught since 1989. An accomplished writer, speaker and strategic communications consultant, Prof. Parsons teaches communication ethics, strategic planning, and social media in both the baccalaureate and Masters degree programs and is the Coordinator of the newly established Science Communication degree program. Her professional and academic research and writing have been primarily in the areas of communication ethics and healthcare communication.

Prof. Parsons is the author of ten books and dozens of papers for the professional and lay press. Among her books are Beyond Persuasion: The Healthcare Manager’s Guide to Strategic Communication (Health Administration Press, Chicago), A Manager’s Guide to PR Projects: A Practical Approach (Lawrence Erlbaum Assoc. Publishers, New Jersey) and her most recent book, Ethics in Public Relations: A Guide to Best Practice 2nd edition, released in 2008 by Kogan Page in London, in association with the Institute for Public Relations in the UK. The first edition was translated into Italian and Indonesian and has been adopted as the textbook of choice in many public relations programs throughout Canada and in Europe.

Prof. Parsons is an accredited member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and was admitted into the CPRS College of Fellows in 2005.
