Communications Officer

Explore this exciting opportunity with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) by providing communications support to staff specializing in the areas of public education, stakeholder engagement, digital communications planning, web content production, graphic design, video, and event coordination.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

·        Provide communication services to support branch staff in the areas of public education, stakeholder engagement, digital communications planning, web content production, graphic design, video, and event coordination;

·        Contribute to special projects, working groups, task forces and committees in support of stakeholder engagement;

·       
Research and draft content including social media posts, and contribute to the development of communications materials and content for presentations;

·       
Provide assistance in the production of graphic design and video by drafting print, web and other digital content, material and products utilized to market FSCO to financial services industry representatives, consumers, target audiences and stakeholders;

·       
Assist staff in the areas of graphic design, publications, digital services, video production, mobile applications and photography;

·       
Provide logistics support for public appearances, tradeshows, stakeholder events and exhibits;
Prepare draft material to communicate FSCO messages, programs and initiatives;

·       
Summarize and evaluate data and feedback from post event reviews in order to identify shortfalls and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

How do I qualify?

Communication Skills:

 

·        You have experience in communications methods, techniques, practices and services, content development, digital media applications, modernized technologies, social networks and multi-media approaches to utilize a range of platforms to communicate and support goals.

·        You have oral communication skills to invite feedback by contacting financial services industry representatives, consumers and stakeholders.

·        You have written communication skills to draft a variety of original materials.

·        You can draft communications content, including advertising, social media posts and web-based products, original print, web and other digital content, material and products.

·        you can contribute to the development of presentations.

Computer Experience:

 

You are proficient in PC software and database management applications to draft materials and correspondence.

Event Planning Experience:

 

·        You have experience in event planning techniques and practices to support the planning and coordination of logistical arrangements for appearances, special events and tradeshows.

·        You can collaborate in the development of information packages, marketing materials, announcements and social media messaging.

Research, Analytical Skills:

 

·        You can assess information sources, research specific issues for projects and research opportunities for public/stakeholder linkages.

·        You can monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of public education programs through consultations with target audiences and analyze feedback.

·        You can review audience use of digital channels.

Salary Range: $1,113.90 - $1,308.50 per week
