Intermediate Editor, Alberta Conservation Association Postings: Temporary - 1 year maternity leave with the possibility of extension Location: Sherwood Park Closing date: November 10, 2013 Alberta Conservation Association has been inspiring people to care about our province's wildlife since 1997. Currently, we areseeking someone to join our communications team as an intermediate editor. The Communications Department is responsible for brand management, media relations, social media, editorial, design, production, photography and publishing for web and print. Description As the intermediate editor, you will work closely with the Communications Manager/ Editor-in-Chiefto develop enticing story ideas, maintain messaging, and the editorial integrity and accuracyof the association’s primary publication Conservation Magazine(bi-annual). In addition, you will be the editor and coordinator on a number of communications materials, including the Discover Alberta’s Wild Side: Annual Guide to Outdoor Adventure,Annual Report, Annual Operating Plan and the Strategic Business Plan. You will also maintain two microsites within Magazineand Discover Alberta’s Wild Side: Guide to Outdoor Adventure).You will provide support to the communications team and ensure a smooth and timely transfer of information for our website and social media.
Qualifications: The successful candidate is involved in or is keen about the outdoors, understands the value ofhunting and fishing and wild food foraging as part of our heritage, has an interest in conservation work in Alberta and is passionate about sharing theideas, values and challenges to our readers and stakeholders. · Degree in journalism or writing, or equivalent work experience. · 4years of experience as editor and at least 2 years working with professional and non-professional writers assigning and editing. · Proven writing, and substantive editing and research skills.
