Communications Advisor

Job Description

Under the umbrella of Enform, the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada (the Council) is a national collaborative forum and primary resource addressing strategic human resource related issues in the upstream petroleum industry. The Council partners with stakeholders to develop information, strategies and solutions to assist in developing a sustainable, skilled and productive workforce for the oil and gas industry.

Job Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Marketing and Communications, the Communications Advisor will be responsible for coordinating
and supporting all marketing and communications activities of the Council. This will include a wide variety of activities including: development of website content and e-marketing initiatives, presentation development, writing and editing newsletters, event planning and media relations support. There is ample opportunity to learn and advance your skills and knowledge in this diverse role
while contributing to the Council's marketing and communications team. You will assist to deliver critical labour market and career information on a national scale on behalf of the petroleum industry in Canada.

•Provide knowledge and expertise to support web initiatives for the Petroleum Human Resources Council (the Council) including the and sites, social media activities, tracking web analytics, and providing technical and sponsorship support for job board customers
•Provide corporate marketing and communications support such as development of external presentations and coordination of speaking engagements
•Review, maintain and update Council marketing and communications materials for compliance with branding guidelines
•Write and edit marketing and communications materials including web and print articles, e-newsletters, press releases, ad copy, and stakeholder communications
•Responsible for supporting event management and coordination of logistics (trade shows and career fairs) for the Council and its team members
•Assist with the creation and implementation of marketing and communications plans – ensure Council key messages reach target audiences
•Other duties to support the Senior Advisor, Marketing and Communications as required


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
•3+ years’ experience working in a marketing and communications role
Experience working in the not-for-profit sector or oil and gas industry is an asset
•Exemplary interpersonal and relationship management skills – bilingual in English and French is preferred
•Excellent written and oral communication skills is a must
•Creative problem solver with the ability to think on your feet
•Enjoys the challenge of working in a deadline driven environment
•Flexible attitude with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting
•Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
•Equivalent experience and education may be considered
