Compensation: Pay Grade 11

$34.89 - 38.38 - 40.30 - 42.31 - 44.43 - 46.65 per hour

Hours of Work: This position works a standard 35 hour work week. Please note that occasional after hours response to emergency situations may be required.

 

Business Unit Information

Water Resources and Water Services (WR&WS) together manage the quality and delivery of Calgary's water supply - from the river, to our taps and back to the river. We protect public health by ensuring a clean and reliable supply of water and by treating wastewater. We also manage storm water drainage, respond to floods and contribute to the conservation of our precious water supply. We're proud of the high standards we uphold. You will play a significant role in ensuring that Calgary's environment is protected for current and future generations.

We are looking for a highly-motivated and skilled communications generalist interested in utilizing their expertise to contribute to the Water team. You thrive on delivering the full suite of communication expertise including: reputation/issue management, employee communications, media relations, strategy development, stakeholder engagement, tactical implementation, writing, social media and digital/web solutions. Primary duties include:

 

·         Develop and implement communications and marketing plans.

·         Implement, monitor and evaluate the progress of communication strategies.

·         Collaborate with in-house creative agency to deliver communications collateral such as print materials, social media, and web solutions.

·         Write, edit and produce a variety of communications tools.

·         Provide advice and coach leaders on all aspects of communications.

Qualifications

Qualifications

The successful applicant must possess a completed two year diploma or a degree in a related field such as Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Business plus five or more years of progressive experience in coaching clients and writing for and communicating with multi-stakeholder audiences through various mediums. Applicants must have an intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). A designation in IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) and/or APR (Accredited Public Relations) would be considered an asset. Success in this position requires demonstrated skills in strategic and creative thinking, organization, political sensitivity, the ability to coach staff and leaders at all levels in the organization, strategic communications planning, project management and employee communications.
