Director, Government Relations

As Director of Government Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an effective government affairs strategy for Goldcorp. The new Director will also be responsible for lobbying activities and assessing the impact of relevant legislation, regulations and public policy. The role will lead efforts to advance legislative and regulatory agendas by building and maintaining effective working relationships with legislators, lobbyists, and other officials. As the new Director, you will be looked upon to advise Goldcorp’s senior leadership on the impact of proposed legislation and assist with determining appropriate responses as required. You will also coordinate the governmental affairs functions with counterparts in each of the company’s operating regions.

Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with at least 10 years experience effectively managing relationships with government officials (legislative and executive), lobbyists, and consultants. As the ideal candidate, you have a proven track record of developing and managing an effective governmental affairs strategy for a major public company with international operations as well as the ability to build and maintain internal and external partnerships.
You know what it takes to communicate a company’s position on complex issues and legislation. You are experienced in writing policy and legislation and are recognized as a strong advocate that can win legislative battles while maintaining positive working relationships with elected officials, agency heads and policymakers.  With operations throughout the Americas, Goldcorp would prefer candidates who speak Spanish and have experience working in Latin American countries.
