Overview: 
Reporting to the Manager Employee Communications, the incumbent is responsible to provide communications advisory services, which include: the writing/editing and production of various newsletters and publications, writing/editing internal bulletins for distribution to managers and employees, drafting communications plans and strategies for initiatives/programs/projects for our internal functional groups, writing web-based material for the NAV CANADA portal, event planning (e.g. Company participation in symposiums, trade shows, seminars, employee-oriented events, community events, etc.)

Accountabilities: 

  • Works closely with other managers and senior management on the development of communications products.
  • Works on special events.
  • Works closely with all functional groups as communications support on company-wide programs and initiatives.
  • Assists from time to time with other Communications duties, as directed by the Manager, Employee Communications.
  • Acts as communications support for the national United Way campaign, North American Occupational Health and Safety Week, etc.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience in Communications, and in particular internal communications
  • Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism or another degree with equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to write/edit at a professional standard.
  • Experience writing a wide variety of material such as newsletters, speeches, biographies, audio-visual material, web-based text.
  • Experience writing communications plans and communications strategies.
  • Experience in planning special events and in publication production.
  • Prepared to travel from time to time to NAV CANADA facilities in support of communications activities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in situations where teamwork approach is required, but also strongly self-motivated.
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp and assimilate complex corporate and technical material and communicate effectively to a general audience.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and shift priorities as required.
  • Good knowledge of social media and how to apply its use in business environment.
  • Graphic design capabilities an asset.
  • Strong computer skills essential: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Adobe, Photoshop (photo manipulation).
  • Knowledge of digital photography and videography also an asset.
